The Journey Of A Forevermark Diamond
If one thing is for sure, at Bere´ Jewelers we love our Forevermark diamonds. They glisten unlike any other, and when you look at them its’ impossible not to smile. With such a passion for these beautiful stones, Ashleigh and I were floored when we were named part of the 2016 Forevermark Carat Club. As part of this exclusive group we were invited all the way to Northern Ontario on August 17th to visit the De Beers Victor Mine.
What, an opportunity to see how a Forevermark diamond is born?! We were so in. While the ride on the small, chartered propeller plane was a little nerve wracking; once we landed we couldn’t contain our excitement. There, along with fifteen other Forevermark sales ambassadors, we were greeted by our host Tom Ormsby, Head of Corporate Affairs for De Beers Canada.
As a group of self-proclaimed diamond geeks, just imagine the look on our faces when he told us we would be going to the very place where over 5.6 million carats of diamonds have been recovered since 2008. Let me reiterate … 5.6 million carats!
When we arrived at Victor Mine General Manager, James Kirby, was there to greet us. We learned about mine safety, got to see the pit up close and personal, and also had an opportunity to view many stunning rough diamonds. The fun didn’t stop there …
After the mine we jumped back on those itty-bitty propeller planes to visit Crossworks Manufacturing. This is where all of the magic happens. After learning all about how each Forevermark diamond is cut and polished to perfection, my love for these stones only amplified. We even got an opportunity to try out the polishing wheel for ourselves. Let’s just say, I’m not going to quit my day job.
Looking back on the whole experience, I speak for both Ashleigh and I when I say it was AMAZING. Having now witnessed the journey of a diamond I am so much more appreciative of each an every stone at Bere´ Jewelers, and look forward to sharing that excitement with all of our customers. A big thank you to Forevermark, De Beers, and our owner, Barry Cole, for encouraging us on our journey to the Forevermark Carat Club.
